WELCOME TO YOLY MUSIC

Yolande Witkin is a pianist, teacher, and composer originally from London, England. Her early studies were with the Royal College of Music in London and shortly after having immigrated to the United States, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in music and piano pedagogy from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.

Learning and understanding music is first and foremost a part of our journey of self-discovery. Students receive either 30, 45, or 60 minute piano lessons to be structured around recommended & personal choices of all music styles including classical, jazz, blues, rock and pop. My focus is to create a unique and inspiring experience for everyone by offering a fun and relaxed approach to piano study. Yolande maintains a private piano studio where she focuses on sharing her love of all types of music with her students. She has been teaching piano lessons to all ages and levels since 2001.

MY MUSICAL MISSION

From the distinct awareness of a tone resonating from our first breath, to discovering the internal rhythm of our heart as it beats its first moment of life, we are from this moment on forever engrained with the primal awareness known to us as ‘ sound’.

It is from this awareness that the melodies, harmonies and rhythms of music come to entice the human ear. Whether heard in a classical Mozart Concerto, a jazz fugue, or a contemporary Christian song, the root of all composition reflects the internal desire to  express ‘ oneself’ through ‘the sound’ of music.

But with all of the methods ideas and quick fixes offered to us in today’s world of musicaleducation, it can often be confusing as to which path to take. What is it that lies sodistinctly pleasing in the compositions of great composers? How is sound so uniquely cultivated and set free to be expressed tonally and so personally?

There is no one method that promises a specific destination for us as musicians at any age or of any genre. Whether we become a classical, jazz, country or folk musician, whether our instrument exists in the form of a piano, a guitar, a violin or a cello, there is no mastery of one that will make us more or less accomplished on the journey of self-discovery

Yoly Music believes that learning and understanding music is first and foremost a part of our journey of self-discovery. If a relationship with musical talent is something that we are blessed to have the opportunity to experience in this lifetime, we can use it throughout our lifetime as a tool to explore an essence of who we are. Developing a solid foundation with our instrument is a key factor in our ability to express ourselves musically. In the same way that an artist will use a paintbrush to express himself through the perspective of color, a musician will use the musical instrument to deliver their personal expression through tonal hues.

Yoly Music helps individuals of any age or level to explore musical expression through creative piano teaching. Piano teaching has changed drastically in the last few years and whilst technique plays an important factor to becoming a proficient musician, our focus is to create a unique and inspiring experience for everyone by offering a fun and relaxed approach to piano study. A student should never feel overwhelmed or intimidated by any instrument. Music is a great joy and learning how to make it should be an equally joyful and grand journey for everyone.

If you or someone you know would like to explore the art of musical expression with piano lessons, whether you are just beginning or need to rekindle those old skills and whether you are a toddler, a teenager, a graduate or a grandparent, Yoly Music is totally committed to teaching with the highest degree of integrity and quality and looks forward to seeing you progress as far as your abilities will allow and your hearts so desire.
